Medical Emergency Kits

IMAGINE:

  1. The distance to the nearest hospital emergency room is 3 hours by car.

  2. The hospital has trained doctors and nurses, but it cannot feed or accommodate the caregiver. Patients must bring their own non-perishable supply of beverages, snacks and meals.

  3. It has beds with bare mattresses. Patients must bring their own clean sheets, towels and pads.

  4. The hospital cannot provide toiletries for basic cleanliness and sanitation. Patients must bring their own toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and soap.

  5. The household -- the whole community in which the children live -- doesn’t own a single duffel bag or backpack in which to carry such essentials.

Do you usually have all of these necessities packed and ready to go, in an emergency? Or do you expect the hospital to provide most of them?

Children who need emergency medical attention in Guatemala and Haiti must carry their own supplies with them.

Please help us pack duffel bags for these kids. This is an ongoing commitment, so every contribution helps. Make an online donation (click on the yellow start button below) or send/drop off items from this wish list c/o Bright Happy Power, 49 North Main Street, Ipswich, MA 01938.

  1. Partners in Development serves about 450 children a month in Haiti and Guatemala.

Their on-site team copes with medical emergencies several times a year. When the emergencies require additional intervention, a 3-hour drive to the nearest hospital occurs.

With your help, Bright Happy Power™ will provide duffel bags. Each one will be packed with the basic supplies to sustain a child and parent for extended stays in the hospital.
